It's a day to celebrate the exploits of great American swimmers like Johnny Weissmuller (yes the guy that played Tarzan in the movies), Duke Kahanamoku, the great Hawaiian swimmer who with Johnny Weissmuller established the American Crawl as the premier speed swimming stroke in a whole string of Olympic games and set records that stood for decades. Mark Spitz who tore up the 1972 Olympics carried away a total of 9 gold medals in his Olympic career was followed more recently by Michael Phelps who has so far earned 18 gold medals.
Take a dip in the lake, ocean or a swimming pool on August 8th or better yet, go swimming with your sweetheart. If you can't, here's a nice card you can send her. Just click on the caption below the picture of the swimmer and it will take you to a pdf file in Google Docs. Remember, instead of printing from Google Docs, click on "File" in the upper left corner, then select "Download" and copy the file to your own computer. Open it with Adobe PDF Reader or whatever PDF reader you use and print the card from there. For some reason Google Docs doesn't handle fonts well, even though they are supposed to be embedded in the PDF document itself.
This is a top fold card, so when it prints be sure to tell your printer it's in "portrait" format so you get the whole file. Flip it on the long side to print double-sided. This will save you a lot of time. Have fun and enjoy celebrating a bubbly Swimming Day with a nice card.
